Managing Absence and Attendance
Workshop Aims
"In 2003, 176 million working days were lost in the UK - costing £11.6 billion in lost productivity." (Personnel Today Magazine, April 2005).
Managing absence and attendance is becoming an increasingly important issue for UK employers. The latest figures from the Confederation of British Industry show an annual growth in lost productivity of 6%. Many organisations in the private and public sector are now taking active steps to improve absence management.
This one day programme aims to get at the root of this problem. The manager is given the confidence to effectively hold return to work interviews using coaching techniques. Through the use of effective questioning techniques, and complimentary listening skills the manager is able to discern between those employees needing genuine support - and those employees who may be unaware of the consequences of inappropriate absence.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Use the OSCAR coaching framework to hold effective return to work interviews.
- Resolve conflict sooner, so that absence is nipped in the bud.
- Listen more effectively to team members - thus enhancing understanding, and building better relationships.
- Ask more effective questions, in a non threatening style, that enables improved team performance.
